Summary: The report of the Commission of Inquiry into the Bayer proposal is analysed. The implications of several of the Commissioners’ findings are discussed in detail. A number of general issues regarding planning for industrial sites are also discussed in the light of the current procedures. Introduction: The Kurnell Peninsula has long been a focus of attention of the Coast and Wetlands Society. Over the years, the Society and its predecessor (Australian Littoral Society – NSW division) have conducted a number of studies and surveys in the area and we have presented evidence at a number of Inquiries concerning planning in the Peninsula.
